5 Things To Look Out For In Black Panther

Marvel released a new trailer for Black Panther two days ago (October 16) and I must say it looks pretty neat. As always there are people abroad the ‘hype train’ while some other people (whispers DC fans) are mostly unimpressed.

From where I’m standing it was a very informative trailer and I’m totally pumped to see the movie early new year. While we wait though, here are 5 things I’m looking forward to using this trailer as a reference point.

  1. SHURI

Shuri is the younger sister of T’Challa (Black Panther) and next in line to the throne and the role of Black Panther. Played by Letitia Wright, she is in charge of the Wakandan technological arm and is responsible for most of Black Panther’s gadgets and tech. From the trailer, we can see that she is very fond of her brother as they share a special handshake.

I’m excited about her because currently the MCU has just two notable geniuses (Tony Stark and Bruce Banner), although in the comics T’Challa himself is one the smartest men in the world, we haven’t seen that side play out yet in the movies (probably because he was too busy fighting the Winter Soldier).

That aside, Shuri is a great addition to the MCU Ensemble and I suspect big things await her. She might even become the Black Panther someday.

Ulysses Klaw is one of the major villains of the Black Panther and Wakanda. Introduced to us in Avengers: Age Of Ultron and played by Andy Serkis, I’ve been eager for his return to the MCU especially after Ultron ripped his arm off in that movie.

Ulysses Klaw has the ability to generate powerful sound via his arm which he replaced using Wakandan technology. Thankfully, the trailer gives us a taste of this as we see him shooting a blast at Black Panther from a moving vehicle.

Wakanda is the most technologically advanced nation on Earth in the Marvel Universe and I expect the movie to deliver on that front.

From the trailer, they seem to have the right idea and it looks like they have created an afro-futuristic world drawing influences from various classic sci-fi movies.

Apart from the general scenery, the Black Panther suit also looks like it has gone through some serious upgrades and modifications that will give Tony Stark a run for his money.

I can’t wait for them to meet again.

Killmonger is a major antagonist to the Black Panther. Played by Michael B. Jordan an actor I love, I was a little uncomfortable with this casting initially. After the first teaser trailer, he began to grow on me and now I absolutely want to see him play this role.

In this trailer, we see Killmonger transform into his own cat-like suit. The suit itself (which is black and gold) looks awesome but the transformation into the suit took the scene to new heights badass.

It’s definitely something to look out for.

This was something I never expected to see or notice but this trailer snuck up on me and I can’t complain. It’s impossible to portray an African country without its own sense of culture and style.

In this trailer, we see T’Challa wearing a number of African native attires and we catch glimpses of some of the supporting characters in colorful attires as well. The most noticeable example is the black one he was wearing when he was with his sister Shuri (I’m definitely making myself one of those).

It looked really beautiful and I want to see a lot more of this in the movie.

That’s it from me people.

Did you see the trailer yet?
