Netflix, as revealed the trailer for their new tv show, called Altered Carbon and it is rumored that it’s their most expensive yet.
The Crown was formerly the most expensive Netflix series.
Since Altered Carbon takes place 500 years into the future, I started thinking about us in the third world country as the premise is that human consciousness can be uploaded into a “cortical stack”, which allows the rich to change bodies (“sleeves”) so as to live forever.
I want to assume only the people in government will have access to this kinda thing in Naija (Just thinking aloud).
There are people who are opposed to the whole thing and well this type of show almost always has a murder mystery to be explored and solved.
The series is based on the novel by Richard K. Morgan‘s 2002 novel and is being adapted by writer-producer Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: Battle Angel) and director Miguel Sapochnik (of “Battle of the Bastards” fame from Game of Thrones).
Here is an official synopsis
Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, “on ice”, for centuries until Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder … that of Bancroft himself. The series is produced by Skydance Television for Netflix.
